Some Faraway Shore

In her solo show, Some Faraway Shore (Apr-May 2025, Gallery 206, Cotton Factory, Hamilton, ON, Canada) Oakley builds worlds composed of mountains of colour, the intermingling (though never merging) flow of time, water and oil giving rise to godlike flowers, and the ever-present disc of the sun. These elements set the stage and invite the viewer to look into this seemingly abstract world to discover its symbols and landscapes and interpret their message both personal and collective.
